Election of the Executive Committee 2025-27 to be held on Friday, September 26,2025 @ 5pm At Indo American Society
NOTICE
To : Members of Indo-American Society (IAS)
Sub : Election of the Executive Committee Members of IAS for two years’ term 2025-26
and 2026-27.
- This is to invite nominations for election as members to the Executive Committee for two years’
term for 2025-26 and 2026-27.
- An extract of the relevant Rules, Nos. 8 to 8B, pertaining to elections to the Executive Committee are enclosed for ready reference.
The affairs of the Society shall be managed by the Executive Committee which shall consist of the following:
- Twenty-four members elected by the General Body at its Annual General Meeting. At least sixteen of these members shall be Indian and eight American.
- Five members may be co-opted by the Executive Committee, three of whom shall be Indian and two American.
- (A) Persons eligible for election to the Executive Committee shall have been members of the
Society for at least one year. This provision shall not apply to American members.
(B) Only one authorized representative of each Corporate Member, who has been a member of IAS for one year are eligible for election to the Executive Committee Members standing for election as well as the proposer and the seconder of the candidate shall have their membership dues paid in full, up to the date including the year on the date of filling the nominations.
The term of office of such elected members of the Executive Committee shall be two years. Each year, half of the Indian members and half of the American members shall retire by rotation they shall, however, be eligible for re-election subject to his/her not having been an elected member of the Executive Committee for more than three consecutive terms, although they are eligible for reelection after one-year gap.
(A) The following members who were elected in 2024-2025 will retire from the Executive Committee in September 2025, but will be eligible for Re-Election subject to fulfillment of clause No 3 vide attachment.

(B) The co-opted members of Executive Committee shall retire each year. A co-opted member shall be eligible for election or co-option upon retirement.
Following member co-opted in 2024 will retire in September 2025, and is eligible for re-election.

(C) Following members will continue for the year 2025-26:

(D) (i) Immediate Past President shall be ex-officio member of the Executive Committee with voting
rights, whereas, three Past Presidents previous to the Immediate Past President shall be permanent invitees to the meeting of the Executive Committee without voting rights.
Mr. Upendra Sheth, President for the year 24-25 will automatically remain on the Executive Committee for the year 2025-2026 as Immediate Past-President.
(ii) The U.S. Consul General and the Director of the American Centre in Mumbai shall be invited to serve as Permanent invitees in the Committee without voting rights.
4. Elections will be held for electing 8 Indian and 4 American members to serve on the Executive Committee for the next two years, 2025-27 on Friday, September 26, 2025, 5:00pm at Indo-American Society, Kitab Mahal, 5 D, Sukhadwala Marg, Fort, Mumbai 400 001.
5. Members of IAS desirous of contesting the election are requested to file their nominations as candidates for election to the Executive Committee of IAS for two years, 2025-26 and 2026-27. A list of the existing members of IAS is available for inspection at the IAS premises.
6. Nomination form duly filled in proposed and seconded by two members of the Society shall be sent to the registered Office of the Society not later than 4.00pm by Friday, August 29, 2025 through Post/Courier.
7. Candidates contesting the elections are requested to furnish 1 colour photograph along with their bio-data, not exceeding 200 words, for circulation to the members by candidates are requested to send their fresh bio-data through email/courier.
8. List of the eligible candidates will be displayed on the IAS notice board on Tuesday, September 02, 2025 at 4pm.
9. The last date for withdrawal of nominations will be Friday, September 5, 2025 at 4pm.
10. The Final list of contesting candidates will be displayed on IAS notice board on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at 4 pm after scrutinised by Returning officers.
11. Any candidate whose nomination form is received by the Society not within the stipulated period and / or not filed properly, proposed and seconded, his/her nomination form shall be treated as invalid and such candidate shall not be eligible to contest the election.
